Resolution Success: Tips for Staying the Course

Success Starts Here Freeway Style Desert LandscapeBelieve it or not, if you set a New Year’s Resolution then today is the day that you will most likely give it up. Studies show that most people abandon their resolutions just one week into the new year. If you can relate, listen up! Instead of giving in – this is the moment to rally your forces and step forward with renewed commitment. Simply by getting through this day with your dreams intact you will elevate yourself into a special minority – the “doers.” So here’s some encouragement, inspiration and helpful links to previous blogs to help you stay the course – whatever your goal – Mind, Body or Spirit. You can do it!

Mastering your Mind

IMG_6806The first step to creating the life of your dreams is to get your head in the right place. With so many choices in life, it can be almost overwhelming to choose a path and stick with it – but with a little soul-searching we can begin to form a mindset for success. Each and every one of us has a set of unique skills and talents. Becoming clear on what those attributes are and then willingly offering them to the world puts us back in a position of control – as opposed to always reacting to whatever life happens to throw our way. By taking these all-important first steps toward self-discovery, you can begin to create the optimal roadmap to a happy and fulfilled future you.

Balancing your Body

OverweightOf course, the #1 new year’s resolution is always to get fit and lose weight. While that’s a valid and worthy goal because we know that obesity can contribute to health problems, the first order of business is getting clear on why you want to lose weight. If it’s simply because you’re hypnotized by the societal hype of magazine cover models, then you’re probably headed for failure and might as well take that delightful detour by the refrigerator sooner, rather than later. However, changing and improving your body is a completely achievable goal – but you have to do it for the right reasons. More valid and long-lasting motivations are: to feel good in your own skin, to increase your strength and flexibility, and to have your outside more accurately reflect who you truly feel that you are on the inside. In other words, you have to do it for you. New Year’s Day gives us an easy way to mark our progress, but we can choose to improve ourselves every single day – so if you’ve already fallen off track, don’t despair. With a plan that encourages more movement and on-hand solutions to satisfy anticipated hunger pangs, you can and will do it! And then something wonderful happens – not only will you feel great about your accomplishment but you’ll also become an inspiration for others – sharing your newfound empowerment.

Strengthening your Spirit

55Thankfully, behind the scenes of the worldly chaos lies a mysterious and powerful source of inspiration waiting to be tapped. As a writer, I’m very aware of this source. All creative people have a “secret” – that their best work comes to them from some vague and undefined space that they don’t truly understand. This is the same place that life changing inventions, great works of art, and moving musical compositions have come from. While this experience defies explanation, it’s a powerful resource that can enhance your life in remarkable ways. If you’ve simply been trying to muscle yourself to success through sheer force and will-power, you have a wondrous new avenue to discover and explore by opening yourself up to the Universe. Consider yourself a “spiritual explorer” and give it a try!

Nurturing that illusive balance of mind, body and spirit comes with one additional, life-changing reward – we often find ourselves filled with a renewed sense of awe for the amazing life that we’ve been given. So here’s wishing you the most incredible, awe-inspiring success in 2015. Whatever your goals, you can do it – and it turns out, you don’t even have to do it alone!
